THIS is Mixed Media

Watercolor, collage, ink, acrylic.....truly MIXED Media

I DID IT !!!

I did it..I didit…TONIGHT I finally did it!
I don’t know why I was so scared. It’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever owned. To me from ME. I had not drove it in 12 months. It wasn’t gonna break. Although, I feared that my first time with it…I surely would break it and a wasted investment. But, my Janome was getting tired so I took out my Brother Embroidery machine out of it’s original box, brand spanking new and finally started using it!! I’m in love..once again. If sewing machines could hear….my Janome would get it’s feelings hurt so I made sure to put it away in my closet so it wouldn’t see me take out the Brother. I might never see my old Janome again. It’s not old. But this Brother sure has LOTS more stitches that I’ll probably will never use and can do tricks that my Janome will never do. Oh well. I had to move on. I can’t wait to download my own designs from my flash drive !! yeee haaa

My Twins

So, I decided to name my series of faces. Since I don't have granddaughters and I will someday ( God willing)... I decided to create drawings of what I would think my granddaughters will look like. In case I'm not around when that time comes, I will enjoy my drawings for now. Anyhow...my THREE sons are wayy too young to start a family. And when and if ever they get married and have children of their own. I wish them nothing but girls!! Hahhaaaa..... some of these drawings look like adult females. Therefore...those will signify my "daughters-in-law"...well...I hope.

Enjoy a picture of my twin grand daughters. Double trouble is what I hope for that young son of mnine that deserves all the pain and suffering (in a good way) he caused me...TIMES two...thus...double trouble... TWIN Girls.

Things happen for a reason

Lots of Color and TEXTURE.

At first...it seemed like this piece was missing something. So, after layers or color and texture; I had to put it aside for months it seems.

I finally stumbled upon it and butterflies came to my mind. Sooo...now it has butterflies and a beautiful piece written by Marilyn Monroe.

Now I feel releived when I see this canvas. It is one of my favorite pieces of Art and hanging at my office so I can look at it and remind myself....that things do happen ...for a reason.

Watercolor

Playing around with Watercolor. Tulips seem to be the easiest to draw. Of course, since this IS MY first attempt at watercolor and no formal training, my tulips will not look authentic. But, I do like how the painting looks after it dried completely.

I kinda like it.

*** Time ***

************ Trust and Obey *********
Where did all my creative energy go? I cannot believe I have not blogged in MONTHS. The energy is still here but was too far away from blogging. I have been taking workshops locally and online and learning all sorts of new creative techniques. My first love still seems to be in Fiber and Mixed Media.

This collage piece was done during a workshop I took with Carmen Torbus http://torbusco.ning.com/profile/Carmen Carmen teaches a great technique on collage with acrylics using your finger. Yepp... no paint brushes..... just your fingers. I love it. I think I still need help with color theory and composition. Looks like all I've mastered is choosing a great acrylic brand (Golden) and decided from here on forward...its gel medium all the way.

Participated in a very exciting Workshop last week; with Lesley Riley and some friends. LOVED IT!!

Here's one previous scrap (gold heart), the design on green fabric was my project from Lesley's workshop and the RED mod podge is the paper I used to cover my workspace. I just love the color combinations.

Trust and Obey

I love this song, when its sung at church. So, last week, after wrapping up a wall hanging, those words came out of nowhere. At that point, I decided to add these words to complete my piece.

I LOVe love love LOVE bright colors.
